About the Author

Dr. Sky (Sirkku M. Sky Hiltunen, Ph.D., Ed.D., RDT-BCT, ATR-BC, BCPC, LPC, REAT), a native of Finland and an American Citizen, is a graduate of the University of Helsinki Theatre College in theater studies. She earned her first doctorate in education at the Catholic University of America, and her second Ph.D. at the Union Institute and University in transpersonal psychology and the creative arts therapies focusing on Therapeutic Noh Theater. She is the Co-founder and the Executive Arts Director of the Art and Drama Therapy Institute, Inc. (ADTI), which celebrates its 20th Anniversary in April, 2012, in Washington, DC.  ADTI serves Individuals with Differing Abilities, who Dr. Sky considers her “spiritual teachers without turbans.” ADTI’s unique facility houses a therapeutic environment, which is embellished with antiques and art from all over the world.

Dr. Sky is a creator of numerous trademarked methods, tools, concepts and terms inspired by ancient wisdom traditions of the Finnish mythological epic of Kalevala and the spirituality of the classic Japanese Noh Theater. She is the Master Teacher of SohKiDo® (the Way of Transpersonal Creativity) consisting of multiple transpersonal methods of Therapeutic Noh Theater, NohKiDo, the Rainbow Method and the Prism of Consciousness. Dr. Sky is a Registered Art and Drama Therapist as well as a Board Certified Teacher in both modalities. She is Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Expressive Arts Therapist. She is a passionate landscaper of meditative Japanese-style rock and Zen Gardens. She has a black belt in Tai Chi.

Dr. Sky has published internationally 21 articles in professional journals. She has lectured in England, Switzerland, USA, Finland, Russia, Lithuania, Peru, and Japan. She is the creator, trainer, director, dancer, choreographer, composer of chanting, and costume and mask designer for Therapeutic Noh Theater®. She is a poet, artist, scholar, and playwright. Her 5-book Series of SohKiDo features Seven Pathways of Transpersonal Creativity: Pathway I: Writing Your Life; Pathway II: Imaging your Life; Pathways III & IV; Masks and Rituals; Pathways V & VI: Dance and Chant; and Pathway VII: Therapeutic Noh Theater. She is a contemporary mystic Christian, who lives by faith, intuition and creativity.
